Tuesday Om Tattoo

This beautiful OM on this young lady’s chest is one of the most brilliantly coloured tattoos that you must have come across in a long time. It’s got everything that makes it spectacular; a perfect mixture of simplicity and soberness. It is not really a bold or in-your-face tattoo. The OM is the highlight within the bright sun and the subtle stars whereas the striking purple designs compliment the design like nothing else can. An out-and-out brilliant tattoo!

Etching a symbol on ones body, which is as permanent as the flesh is, shows the deepest respect for Aum.

Aum tattoo : as a Christmas present

July 15th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Aum Tattoo

Image

My Christmas present is a tattoo, my fourth. It is an Om (also called Aum) symbol, as popularly written in Devana-gari-. An Om/Aum means many things. It is recognized in Hinduism (as well as the Eastern religions that branched off from it), as the all-encompassing, the All-One. It is a sign of the Infinite, of all that is.

Of which I am a very small part, and that’s a good thing to keep in mind.

My purpose in getting this tattoo is to have an actual physical reminder of that fact, so that I won’t forget the nature of the Infinite and instead place myself at the center of the universe. Which is one of those things I like to do.

As Bob Dylan said, it’s life and life only.

Beautifully said.

the lotus to represent spiritual fulfillment (awakening to the spiritual reality of life), non-attachment, purity and creative power. the om (or aum), apart from being the universally accepted symbol of hinduism, is the holiest mantra of all, and represents all of reality (past, present and future - transcending time), the divinity in each of us, the supreme non-dual reality
